Prof. Silvenus O. Konyole, is Food and Nutrition Scientist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kenya. He holds a BSc from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. MSc from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) and Ghent University joint program in Belgium and a PhD from the University of Nairobi and the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Prof Konyole has over 25 years cumulative experience as a Food Science and Nutrition scientist with collaborative researches with Universities in Kenya an abroad touching on maternal and child nutrition, complementary feeding, Insects as food and feed, mushroom and spirulina as foods and composites, food processing and preservation, body composition and gut health studies in humans, breast milk production and intake and use of stable isotopes for nutrition and health research.

He has also collaborated with and consulted for DANIDA, USAID, The IGAD , The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), Bioversity International and JICA among others with over 60 academic publications in high impact scientific journals. He is a member of the African Nutrition Society, American Society for Nutrition, Member of Kenya National Academy of Sciences, Editorial Board member of the Journal of Insects as Food and Feed (JIFF),African Journal of Foods, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development (AJFAND) and Journal of Advances in Health and Medicine. Faculty member, Kenya Nutritionist and Dieticians Institute (KNDI) and a reviewer for several scientific journals, has been a member of several scientific committees and given keynote addresses in many scientific conferences and other meetings.
