ABOUT ABN

The Africa Bioethics Network (ABN) is a pan-African organization working to strengthen ethical research
governance, capacity building, and equitable systems across Africa. We work across research, training,
partnerships, and policy engagement, supporting individuals and institutions in advancing ethical, inclusive, and
contextually grounded approaches to health and research.

About the Program

Duration: 3 months (May – July 2026)
Format: Remote / Hybrid (role-dependent)
Commitment: 10–20 hours per week (flexible)
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, with a modest stipend provided to support participation (internet/data
costs).
                             

Internship Positions

Research & Programme Support Intern
Support ongoing research and programme activities across ABN projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct literature reviews on bioethics topics
• Support qualitative data organization and documentation
• Assist in preparing research summaries and reports
• Track programme activities and outputs
• Support workshop and project coordination

Working Groups & Collaborative Projects Support Intern
Support coordination of ABN working groups and collaborative initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support scheduling and coordination of meetings
• Prepare agendas and meeting summaries
• Maintain shared documents and tracking tools
• Support communication across teams
• Assist in documenting outputs and progress

Training & Mentorship Coordinator Intern
Support delivery and coordination of ABN training and mentorship programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support training logistics and participant coordination
• Assist in preparation of training materials
• Maintain mentorship tracking systems
• Support communication with mentors and mentees
• Assist with evaluation and feedback collection

HR Assistant / Internship Programme Coordinator
Support coordination of the internship programme and basic HR processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Track applications and support recruitment processes
• Coordinate onboarding and documentation
• Maintain intern records and tracking systems
• Support communication with interns and supervisors
• Assist in programme coordination and reporting

Accounts & Finance Intern
Support financial organization and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Organize financial records and documentation
• Support expense tracking and reconciliation
• Assist in preparing financial summaries
• Maintain structured filing systems
• Support basic financial reporting tasks

Logistics & Events Coordination Intern

Support planning and execution of events and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support event planning and coordination
• Manage participant communication
• Assist with logistics tracking
• Support documentation and reporting
• Assist during virtual or in-person events

Partnerships & Network Coordination Intern
Support stakeholder engagement and partnership coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain partner and stakeholder databases
• Support communication with partners and networks
• Assist in organizing meetings and engagements
• Support documentation of partnership activities
• Assist in identifying collaboration opportunities
